I hit a little wall while I was trying to update my ancient maps.
Regardless of which variant I try to update (Nextgen or Luna on Android device) I have one of these:
- The app reports "Out of memory" (Nextgen, removing lic file solves it, but it does not make it work)
- Infinite loading loop (Nextgen, typically after removing lic file)
- App just quits (Luna)
I already tried several map versions: 2024, 2025 and 2026, Q2/Q4 variants. It seems that all have the same; only the current map seems to work for me with what I have.
Which app versions are compatible with the currently shared maps? (maybe I'm running a too-old variant?)
I placed the files in the right place; that's for sure.
Am I missing something? Is there a specific apk version that I have to use with these?
Using an unrooted ASUS ROG phone 5 (2448 x 1080), orientation doesn't matter, Android 13 system (last verion that the phone received).
Currently using IGO Nextgen 9.19.1.484935 and IGO LUNA 9.35.2.153810. (Internal storage, no SD card possibility)
Maps:
Nextgen:
2023.Q2 HERE (works)
2024.Q4 HERE (does not work)
2025.Q2 HERE (does not work)
2025.Q4 HERE (does not work)
2026.Q2 HERE (does not work)
Luna:
2022.Q4 HERE (works)
2023.Q4 HERE (does not work)
2025.Q2 HERE (does not work)
Skin:
Nextgen - by pongo 9.19.5.584533h (?) based on about
Luna - I believe this has no skin

Why the Android 11 vs 13 confusion?
The reason your app thinks it’s on Android 11 is because the old iGO APK build (9.19.1) was compiled years ago and target SDK is limited to Android 11. Your phone is physically on Android 13, but the app runs in compatibility mode. Android 13 has strict Scoped Storage and memory tracking, so when the old engine tries to index massive 2026 map files using old Android 11 protocols, the OS just kills the process, triggering the "Out of memory" crash. Upgrading the APK is the only way out.

""I placed the files in the right place; that's for sure ""
Really? For iGO Luna, you only need to update the maps in the `content/mg/baseline` folder.
Nothing else. You might also want to delete the `save` folder.
Nextgen should also work, provided you have the correct license:
`Mega_Free_1_Year_Update_FEU_NQ_2026_Q2.lyc`
Regardless, you should update to a newer version—such as 9.18xxxxxx iGO Pal or Israel.
These are fully patched, no additional licenses are required.

This thread has become redundant and does not provide any new technical or educational value for the community. The core issue regarding the older APK target compatibility with on Android 13.
Will be moved to the Trash Zone shortly.

With this smartphone (at least 128 GB of storage), there really shouldn't be any issues with the Nextgen or Luna app — regardless of whether or not you have a license.
IMO the problem must lie with the device itself — or perhaps there is incorrect content in the 'data' or 'content' folder?
