Default Can an old go530 be updated?

I believe tomtom stopped supporting my device a few years back. Its currently on app 9.510 and map 960. Am I stuck with these?

These certainly CAN still be updated with latest maps etc but you need to do a bit of reading/searching around here:-

    and all will be revealed

PS you'll get very similar responses across the other forums too (apart from that one from Privateer on PGPSW who either mis-read your question or seems to have forgotten that your device is EOL anyway!)

Thanks for your reply. The charging port is a bit iffy on my go530 - not sure if its worth the effort/expense of repairing it. What models can the exploit be used on? Is there go550 worth buying second hand?

I think fredderf has pretty much covered you questions already? The x40/x50's (540/740/940/550/750/950) are all about the same apart from internal memory and they all have a MicroSD card slot anyway so any will suffice and are easy to update (as per the FAQ's & tutorials around our forums)

I stumbled upon the right tools and was on it until gone midnight last night. I tried it,but haven't had any success at all. this morning I restored the tomtom. I think the issue could be to do with the meta data?

Am I to copy the whole batch of data then create a text file called meta? or does it only need the meta data for my map only?
Also there is a text file called "intergrated_meta" in my back file with meta data - is that ok to stay there or should it be deleted?

Ive searched the forums and found this step, but its not entirely clear to me :
    Run "FastActivate.exe".
    Select 1
After 1 go to the root Device and rename the file
    Updated_meta in
    meta

    Select 2
    Done.

Is that saying after selecting 1 in fastactivate to rename the text file from "meta" to "updated_meta" ?

    Heads boggled here.
