I copied the saved folder containing everything (except itn folder) copied previously from the GPS back onto the internal drive

Give this a try:
Open the saved folder, select all content and copy this back to the internal disk from the TomTom.
Goto internal disk and delete itn folder(if exist)
Reset device and startup again
