Assuming the map you want does have a meta then just copy this map FOLDER across to your device, run FastActivate buttons 1-4 and that should get it up & running.
Alternatively delete all loose FILES from the memory & let TTHome incrementally update your navcore to the correct/current/latest 9.540 then try again

Update Failure with XXL 540S
I might have made things worse while repeatedly failing to install the full map (too big) or a region map. Here's the current situation:
I have 1899 MB free on my XXL 540S. It has the latest app, 9.465. I have the latest HOME, 2.9.8.3722. The map on my computer is the latest, 955.6805. All regional maps installations were incomplete and I removed them. Doing a soft reset didn't help.
When I attach the GPS to the computer, a Windows 7 error says, "Do you want to scan and fix TomTom... ?" I have alternately used the "scan and fix" option or "continue without scanning." Neither action affects the upcoming failure to update.
When the map update failure occurs, Home says there was an "Error writing file D:\ ... city.dat." Another notice says the download was incomplete.
I don't have a good backup on Home because it keeps replacing Home's backup with the failed backup. I might have an ancient backup but I want a map that doesn't show covered-wagon routes.
In short, HELP!

PS which actual map are you trying to use because the ONLY European 955.6805 map we have a meta for is Europe_North_955_6805 although you could use Europe_South_955_6805 or Europe_West_955_6805 if you can get your head around this [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
