Way too complicated for me I'm afraid, thanks for posting anyway, much appreciated mate.

I was really just wondering if the power surge had damaged the tomtom beyond the usb problem and the fixing of the usb was likely not worth the hassle.

Hello any discomfort, seek only solution for service.
Any electronics store that you can fix the gps, greeting

Took it to a specialist today mate, he will look at it and let me know if it's fixable, he did notice burnt marks on main board, hopefully he can fix it.
