I've always had that message, so it's probably just TomTom's way of trying to persuade people to buy new maps "in my opinion"
If you wanted to test if it's working then you could change the map update settings to a different setting, if you have it set just to update from TomTom checked sources you could try changing it to ...... one of the others.
No offence meant.I havent got map shares updated for 3 months now, same error still.
