Only 50km's? Hmm what's your location? Mine is at least 100km. You only have a small Belgium map on the device?

    What difference does it make?
    50 KM or 100KM
Realistically 50 KM is good enough.

If you look at 100KM by the time you get there traffic conditions have changed. (They always change)

You can look at your whole route on MyDrive it covers everything in regards to traffic.
But it is useless if at any time there is a change in traffic conditions somewhere on your route.

In fact the First 25KM is the best.
The Traffic Horizon (Bubble) travels along the route with you on your journey constantly assessing the traffic situation ahead as a moving to your target always.
If I remember correctly it updates every 2 Minutes.

Also the time of day you start out plays a big roll in what traffic you will run into and that is not covering any road accidents that might pop up.

So seeing traffic 100KM away on your phone is not going to be a real big help in the long run.

The TomTom app will make corrections as you drive.
That goes for any GPS app or stand alone GPS unit when you are using traffic.

I have 6 countries on my test phone.

TomTom projects traffic up to approx. 125/ 130 km from your location.

Useful or not, up to you. It is what it is

50 or 100km makes a difference. Red dots are covered by Tomtom traffic at my place.

@dennismoore Right. And moves with you while driving!!

The original question a user asked was about is traffic working.....

    That is all........

Do we need to go on and on now with how much coverage one has???
The important thing is it works............................

That's just an opinion. I like the truth and nothing but the truth. That's important to me. It seems we don't care about the same values. That's life and I like it. Bye4now.

I wouldn't care, but someone always wants to be right and have the last say. When we catch him red handed that he's wrong, suddenly things don't matter..

Indeed, 50, 100 or 130 km of traffic info don't matter. Greater things needed to be addressed. Point made.

    Dennis out.

Seeing that we are now bringing up the "truth" and "catch him red handed".

Lets do a little math here.

If we travel at 120 KM/H that gives us for every Min we have traveled 2 KM.
TomTom states that every 2 mins it does an update of traffic which is 4 KM.

So the route you take aside from how many "RED Dots" you see before you set on your route is relevant.

Seeing that the most anyone can see on your smartphone screen is what 3 to 4 Km's. (could be more)
Then all the "RED Dots" of traffic mean nothing only the ones on your route if there is traffic showing in that 3 to 4 Km window on your screen.

It is great to see as one sits at their desk and looks at TomTom NDS before a route is put in to see all the "Red Dots"

Now if you do a 200, 300, or 400 km route or longer those "Red Dots" do not show past your 100 KM radius or help you because they are not there.

The only thing that is helpfull is the updates every 2 mins on traffic on the route you are driving on.
Nothing else matters even if you have 100 KM radius of traffic.

TomTom NDS does its calculations based on that and only updates your route every 2 mins. (aka 4 Km)

So, so much for the "truth" and "catch him red handed" that you point out about me......

Totally agree and just ignore the "people" (seems that my previous phrase was in violation of the rules here being rude ...seriously??) that think otherwise!
They simply insist they are right while they obviously know they were partly wrong, being that it should have been 100km in stead of 50 km !

    Have a pointless discussion now.

You should have stopped at the post #25. I'll clear up the topic later.
Before asking a question, know it's already discussed here and at 99.9% is not unique. Use search.

Many questions become very arduous, a lot of time chewed deja vu...Since we have lost all the year of work and effort, many people have no will to answer the same questions again. Me neither. Use a search, please.
