    Default Tomtom apk - broken in car radio with android

    Tomtom is my favorite app. I bought a car radio with android (SPRD Sp9853i_1h10_vmm). No version of TOMTOM GO works with this car radio. Neither original nor NDS, without OBD with OBD.
    The application is always installed. After the start, I get to the selection before downloading the maps, and here the navigation stops and I can't get any further. Isn't there a way to run?

    I had the same problem and with 1.8.1 version it works. I don't know why new versions don't work.

    @mafian,

    Why not trying to linkup with your smartphone to your car radio.
    As you did not tell anyone what type of car radio you have in your car you just might be about to connect with a USB cable to the radio.

    If not just use your smartphone for your GPS.....
    Unless you are ready to replace the car radio with an after market one you could just be out of luck.......

    @xanderh,

    TomTom GO has been prone to have all kinds of problems with car head units.
    The TomTom forum is full of posts........
    It is hit and miss that any users get it to work 100 %.

    Plus TomTom GO is now dead and no longer supported.

    It has been replaced with TomTom GO Navigation - GPS Maps & Traffic Alerts and that is not been very stable.
    Best if you are going to use any GPS app TomTom NDS Mod or Sygic Mod are your best bets.

    Use the Tomtom Go app from here, no problems at all with Intel based head units.
    I have no idea why they develop a new app that does not work with Intel.
    There are so many head units with Intel inside.
    I don't know any other nav app that has these problems, but yeah, it's Tomtom, they are not the best.
    Why using a smartphone in the car if there is an Android unit ?
    Too much work before driving.

    TomTom GO v1.8.1 series used the old map format.
    The newer version of "TomTom Go" uses NDS maps.....

    Even if you get it to work and be stable it will not be updated any more for the app.
    So you are then back to square one.....

    Just sometimes users need to let go of old systems and move on to newer system that works better.

    In regards to Intel based head units TomTom saw not need to keep making app that will work with this system.
    There many users that do not even try and use GPS system on there Intel based head units they use what is there or their smartphones or Tablets.....

    What are you going to do when you can not get any maps updates???

    Even TomTom Forum has closed any info in regards to TomTom GO v1.8.1 since December 2019

    Spoiler: See last comment......

    Simple, I use another nav app.
    Tried them all, they all work with intel and give map updates, ok, not everyday but enough.
    And... to be honest, I don't find Tomtom is the best at all.
    Still use iGO , for me the best but that's my opinion.

    Igo has the best route calculation, but online info about traffic and deadlines is not very good. Sygic route calculation does not do much else at a decent level. Tomtom good traffic and route calculation and planning at home. Too bad you don't think it makes sense to install an older version. I have an android 10 on the radio.

    I use the latest old Tomtom Go sometimes ( as long as they provide mapupdates ) but it leads me to the strangest routes now and than.
    For me iGO Nextgen is good enough, traffic is ok, mapupdates enough.
