I have personally two different devices with Android 10. And I have access to three more models. It works great everywhere

These issues have nothing to do with the application or the version of the Android.
They have with the he granted permissions, launcher, with the energy saving rules in the software and/or ignorance of the user.

Not so simple
I have NDS and Go on the same Android 10 device, and only for NDS does the GPS go to sleep in the background. That's why I ask. I am running LineageOS 17.1, btw.

I'll try a clean install

not a expert on the issue, but i recall reading a user complaining about GPS issues with LineageOS as well... maybe try another ROM?

just my 2 cents

BTW while im not a Lineage user i've used several ROM's in my devices, in some of them GPS simply didn't work at all, with others no problem, and im talking about the same device with different ROM
