I have tested this app for sometime now and you can always make a U-turn because it does not recalculate that fast so there is plenty of time to correct your mistake.
Plus new longer route is very questionable because I have missed an exit and it recalculate to a shorter way to go.
I back this up with it compared to my Garmin Smartdrive 61 in testing both at the same time.
Plus I have often took another route other than what TomTom NDS is pointing out along the route, because I know a shorter way to get to where I needed to go.
It might not be the fastest way but less traffic on these roads.
Then the TomTom NDS picks up on where I am going and corrects itself with a recalculation.

Plus all GPS apps and stand alone GPS units show on the map the exit to take ahead of time.
Plus you read road signs and again that info is posted ahead of time to each exit or change in highways and what lane you need to be in.
I just look at the screen from time to time anyway......

Plus this app is free so take what you can get from it.
If you want then try the paid version TomTom GO then you can post info on the TomTom forum about your "problem".

TomTom NDS and GO are amazing apps in terms of routing and traffic info.

Thx davidovich and anybody else who is contributing. As my way of thx I even bought TomTom Go for my android auto car unit. It works great. Amazing app, saved me numerous time by offering better routes according to the traffic conditions.

TomTom Labs -> Advanced Settings -> User Interface -> Home Screen
- Mohawk speed bubble and speed limit removed

TomTom Labs -> Advanced Settings -> User Interface -> Main Menu
- Volume control is now also available in the main menu

Settings -> Map and display -> Show on map
- 3D view of buildings and landmarks ON / OFF switch added

Settings -> Map and display -> Show on map -> Points of interest
- Maximum display increased from 5 to 7 points of interest

Settings -> Vehicle Profile
- Selectable fuel type (affects search results for petrol stations, points of interest and route guidance)
