Read some post back, then you will find out that this version is no longer supported by GooglePlay or TomTom.
But you can switch to TT NDS

It all comes down to taking your time and reading all the posts.

This app will install if you do it correctly......

But a lot of users have a problem to read and understand how to install it. The app that has been around for a long time time.....

Read, Read and Read again.........

Well, I would say, you missed some basic steps...

1) install the app from Google Play store. <---DO THIS FIRST !!!!!!
2) run it, close. <----------------------------DO THIS BUT do not download any Maps or Voices
3) uninstall from Application Manager. <-------THEN THIS BUT do not uninstall it with The Google Store !!
Please note do not use 3rd party uninstallers only use what came with your phone or tablet......
4)...

Did you make the mistake and add your email address???
You have to skip it.
If you do not skip it you will always get notice of anything TomTom has to sell.

If you added your email address you are screwed it is now in their data bank and no mater what you try to do you will get notices......

You will just have to click the pop ups away every time.......if you want to use this old app........

Anyway
I just installed DeFoX version GO on a phone that never had any version on it, without downloading the original from the Google store.
Installed it without Google account, of course it cannot connect to the server. Close.
Then I activated a google account, started app, downloaded maps, and that's it.
Removed google account after all (not my phone). No warnings with it anyway.

Yes I did, always done it that way. Only difference at the first step is I cannot install from Google Play because the latest version there I cannot install ( because Intel Based device I think ? ) so
I use the same original version 1.18.1 from apkpure for the first step untill the mapdownload. Maybe that's the reason.

I will try without Google account see if that helps.

I did it exactly the way you did but after login into my Google account after it the update notification is back again.
Think I leave it as it is, no idea what else to do anymore.

I did not install the original from the play store.

Maybe it has something to do with (Google's) notifications. I immediately turn everything off, everything. I turn off play protection too.
