Why yes! That's very strange.
Uninstalled app. Reinstalled official and now computer voices work again. But 0 free miles to use unless upgraded or wait 30 days.
Installed/upgraded many DFox versions before with no voice problem. First time voice issue like this: computer voice only work with official version from Market but not when not patched! Solution?

Make sure you turned speaker UP, when tomtom go are running/open.
Lol, I've been using tomtom for nearly 10 years on a daily basis and know the most basic troubleshooting checklist. This issues has nothing to do with speaker.
Yes, do you have a solution for this? Tried your suggestion; computer voices works in official version but not Dfox version. Have you had this happen before?
As a matter of fact - about the same issue was on earlier 1.4 version (discontinued) - on crc version was impossible to use custom voices. No solution - perhaps all additional features had to be granted by PlayGoogle (or smth common). perhaps - new 1.17.5 version was created to ensure legacy.
Solution? try to revert to older 1.17.3 - if work - don't upgrade.
Thanks but seems hard to revert to older version unless you've done a Titanium Backup of the app expecting issues before installing a newer version.
Especially since installing the latest version requires downloading whatever is available in Marketplace which is only 1.17.5 now.
Is there another way to install older version without a backup before hand?
