Sticky threads are different from sticky posts (few forum have this) If you posted and it appeared ok then it disappeared afterward, it has been moved or removed by moderator (sometimes without telling you) It happens to me several times (disappointing since it's a post to help others) But it is what it is. Moderators tries to keep threads clean and organized so they have the power. I think of it as a trade off. Some questions are never answered and some takes a long time; but try not to double posts. I think off topic posts are ok but not encouraged (and moderators usually cleans it off by moving it later or deletes it) Useless posts like just saying "thanks" are pretty much destined to be removed because they just cluttered up the threads (use "LIKE this post" for just saying thanks) You can say thanks if it's part of meaningful comments. What's bother me is the constant posts asking the same questions that has already been answered. It's probably driving old moderators like Neil and Catymag nuts (I know I get tired of them*) So when we have a thread that is useful, we sticky it so it easily available. Don't get discouraged if you're on a learning curved, we all started out that way. But some of us are driving on that highway with a bicycle and some of us are using a motorcycle. For those on bicycle they soaked in the scenery and for those on motorcycle they soaked in road bugs.

But seriously, don't take any notice of what that bloke Magnetron is saying about a sticky catches flies and that's it. That's so not true. It catches much larger things too. Tiny children, reptiles, most small mammals particularly rabbits and pretty-much anything weighing less than about 25 kilos ...... So when someone gets "carded", "kicked out", banned; do they know why they are banned? If so, how? It's not as though they are able to check their mailbox for the reason.

If they get banned, they'd know very well why. I once got kicked out of a high-class pub. I didn't need to go back in to find out why.

Carded is a little different. Take your tongue outta ya cheek Tex [you're such a card!] ....

Well considering that most users don't read the rules often enough to know (nor remember) what not to do (personally I go with my common senses and hope for the best but sh*t happen) and you get banned but don't know why. Don't get me wrong I'm not against "banning", I'm just curious if they get warning or notified of the reason.

When a banned user logs-in he gets a notice about the reason of his ban and a pm is sent to every yellow/red carded user with the reason of the infraction card given.
All this is automatic in a Vbulletin board, Admin and ban-enabled Staff must always give a reason for banning or giving a card.
Additionally we make a post here [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
This forum bans by automatic script 0 posts users after 455 days of inactivity. A notice is present, and non dismissible by the user, in inactive users' forum header. At login they get the reason: "0 posts user expired account", but after more than a year they should know why they've been banned.
At registration users receive an e-mail with a notice about it too.

Thanks for the info. It makes more sense now. Wow pretty generous for 0 post. I would of gone with 30 days. Are you banning based on account or ip address?
