Database would be great; but it might have to be offline proggy since searching is pretty poor via gpspower. Google search gives better find from gpspower than gpspower own search.
Map preference will be unique to each user. Only by testing they will find what fit for their need. That is, you can have two users in same region that like different maps. I like NNG because it allowed mixing of different map/poi/building. I prefer HERE map with TomTom poi because it's best for my area.
To help sort out licenses (because they can be named as anything), I wrote a proggy that check duplicates via crc32. Someone has a tool that parses license and extract what is activated but didn't share it (yet)
