What does MapReverseConverter do?

It does just opposite as Garmin's MapConverter. It converts new format MapSource maps in older format that is supported with older MapSource (6.13.7) and that could be unlocked with Garmin Unlocker without damaging maps.

It does not convert NT maps to Non NT.

All Non NT and older (and some new) NT map releases uses old file structure and organization. RoadTrip for Mac OS X cannot use maps in the old format. RoadTrip for Mac OS X cannot use maps in the old format, it uses different format, which can not be read with older Mapsource.

This format difference has nothing with NT - Non NT differences (that's another story).

In some newer MapSource map releases (CN EU 2009 NT and some others) file structure is modified to be compatible with RoadTrip for Mac OS X, and new version of MapSource is released which supports this file structure.

They also released program named "MapConverter" to convert maps with older structure to newer so they could be used with RoadTrip for Mac OS X.

One more thing, this new format MapSource maps could not be unlocked with Garmin Unlocker because maps would be damaged and unusable if unlocked with unlocker.

One more word about unlocking NT maps with Garmin Unlocker. Garmin NT maps can be unlocked with Garmin unlocker without damage if:

1. Maps are already in older format supported by MapSource 6.13.7
2. If they are converted with MapReverseConverter in older format
MapReverseConverter is an universal program for any map in the new format. MapReverseConverter does not only convert the maps, it (optionally) installs MapSource 6.13.7 (and POILoader, MapInstall, UnlockWizard) too.

After the conversion process you will have two sets of maps on your PC, the original and the converted one. If you want, you can remove the original files, preferrably through the Control Panel of Windows. Newer versions of MapSource still work with the converted maps, so upgrading MapSource is always possible.

Localization files

When your language is not supported by the conversion program, you can download the required localization files for MapSource for your language below. Copy the unzipped files into the MapSource folder (default c:\garmin6137), overwriting existing files with the same name.
