Thread: Registration file for Garmin mapsource

Where or what do I add this file to. When I run the mapsource installer I get the post 1 error but there is no folder to drop this into.

I must read, read and read again, the instructions say make the folder on C: and put this in it then put the mapsource .exe file in there also and run it. Then do the same with the patch file. It works of course. If only I could do what I was told the 1st time life would be so much easier. Hope my incompetence helps someone else to get it right first time trying.

Spoke too soon. I put the mapsource.reg file in a folder on the PC and double clicked it to add to the registry, then ran the mapsource.exe file. I still get the same "previous mapsource not found" error. The mapsource file downloaded from [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] is "MapSource_6161.exe" It's a new one as of May 13, 2010 does the method work for this one or do I need an older one.
I have tried to do the unrar and run the main.msi file option but the download is an exe file so I am stuck again.

Finally got it sorted out, problem was I was using older winrar v3.3, doesn't let you unpack and see inside the archive, just unpacks the rar as an exe file. I downloaded the trial latest version v3.9 and yipee I can now see the files in the .exe Result I can run the .msi file as guided.
