Default Speed Camera Warning application v2.2 with location based services *update* 23/7/8

This application provides a speed camera warning system for suitable Series 60 3ed phones. It is designed to operate either in conjunction with Nokia Maps, or in the background (e.g. whilst using another application or in standby) and popup to the foreground with an audio visual alert, then return to the background

The application together with an installation and user guide is available as a free download

Due to the restrictions imposed by Symbian Signed, the installation process is a bit tedious.

A suitable speed camera data file is required. A dummy file speedcam.txt is provided to illustrate the required format of the file. For the UK, a good source of up to date files is available at Pocket GPS World (I have no affiliation with them) who now provide a file specifically for this application - an annual subscription is required to obtain the relevant file (look for Nokia SpeedCam) from: Code:

An old pocketgps_uk_sc.csv file that can be used to try out the application is available free in: Code:

This detector has been tested on a N95-1 running V21 firmware and latest Nokia Maps v2 Code:

using both the internal GPS and an external BlueTooth GPS, but should work with other Series 60 3ed phones that support Location Based Services.

    Version 2.2
Marker added to dial to dynamically point to current GPS North
    Version 2.1
Should now work in all locations, and distance / bearing measurement algorithm improved
Maps overlay should now work on non-English phones if the name of the Maps application is changed on the Preferences screen (see user guide)
Alert settings are remembered between sessions
