Nuvi 1490T lost TMC icon

My friend has Nuvi 1490T.
2-3 years ago he installed Alexander's FW Delux 5.11 and all goes like charm till two days ago by mistake he has cleared unit's nonvol memory. The result was bricked device due to system files failure.
As Alexander stopped support of his custom FW, my friend decided to turn back to official FW.
He has formatted the unit and restored it to FW 6.20. Nuvi works again, but the TMC icon completely disappeared.
So the question is:
Can TMC visibility be restored on the unit?
TMC antenna is GTM25 with subscriptions for USA, CAN and BG.
You should keep in mind that my friend did not have copies of so called "regions" and off course he did not made any copy of file system.
Any advice will be highly appreciated, but as I have no the unit in my hands, it will take a while to test your proposals and to reply respectively.
