You can create it, probably it goes in Garmin folder but I'm not sure, if it doesnt work ,try in root.

I think that even Garmin Asus A10 has the standard "\Garmin\GarminDevice.xml" file that holds the paths to different additional files.
Check that file for the POI path to be sure.

On 3790 or 34xx can use the UNL versions (65535 255 255 0) where no .unl file or .gma is required.
Also (for OP) yes, you can copy POI files (.gpi format) directly to POI folder on device. No real need to transfer/copy across using POI loader.
