OK thanks will have a look at that, The way I use OziExplorer you would think am an Expert but the way I use it is really basic, I download a file from the Mines Department here in West Ozzie and it comes as a PDF "in 250k:1" and I convert that to a JPEG then import and Calibrate that map in Ozzie then I import any Tracks ".plt " I have and use them to Re correct the calibration of the map then convert to OZF for my PDA" then when we go bush and I find it's not quite right I then fire up the lappy and do extra Cal points to correct it again and so the process goes on, it is important to know exactly where you are when you go Gold Prospecting and know whos Lease your on, I have done this for many many years now and I keep checking my location by taking from the map a mining lease peg point and go looking for it and I keep finding I'm within 4 metres of that peg.
My M8's keep saying where the F are you taking us now am only following your tracks but what are you following "me" I say the 30yr old track "sort of" in front of me LOL.
I enjoy that when we go Gold Hunting is a real adventure and it's even better when you get to that spot and the other tracks leading out have not been used either.
But it's still a hobby nothing to retire on yetbut one day "have only 2 years to retire anyway heh."
M8's have GPS and can get themselves to a point BUT not the way I take them. It is alot of fun we have.
Extra info:
I do also collect Rocks and Minerals, which means cutting,Polishing and Faceting and Detecting Gold and Treasures, so hey put all that with Camping in some nice place in Oz and why would you want to go Overseas, hey there is some nice fossicking places in NSW and QLD I'd like to go back to one day.
