I love my garmin nuvis and maps, but with topos and other Garmin maps their performance is a bit slow. You can find the generic Chinese CE devices 6 and 7" GPS's for a bit over $100 with ~500Mhz processors. They are often discussed with Igo software (installed or to be installed), but I have many Garmin maps that are excellent.

Looking around it appears possible to port Garmin maps over, but not at all clear how to or if all the features would work. Web searches seem to reveal a fair amount of speculation or vague comments related to the topic. I would expect traffic would not work, but would the map features routing, etc work and would it be faster than the current generation nuvis?
1. Is it possible, and where would one look to find any tutorials or clear discussions - how to install/configure garmin maps on a windows ce device?
2. Would they be expected to perform faster than the nuvis (garmin never talks processor speed)?
3. Besides shiny screens, what are the pros and cons of these devices?
4. Is anyone aware if any of these pick up the russian satellites in addition?

They seem like an attractive toy to try, but where to start? Some Euro models even pick up digital TV...They have video inputs for backup cams, etc....

Thx
