Hmm OK. on my other car that has GPS built in, it shows junction view, in normal operation.

Really? Without a route, you see JCV while driving up to any junction? Post screenshots of it.

Sure, but I bet it's not running GARMIN's software like your Kenwood unit.

Not to any but to main junctions with many routes. I will try to but it will be difficult while driving

The system is the one on Auris 2017. I am not sure what the brand is. However, I am wrong. What is shown on major junction, is the sign like on the one actually on the road that shows information of the direction for each lane.

I'm guessing you probably mean LA (Lane Assist) rather than JCV (Junction View) in that case.

Lane assist has direction arrow for a lane and no route is required. It's a driving aid. Example, street has 3 lanes which would be straight until at intersection which far left is for left* turn, middle for straight and far right for right* turn.

Junction view has possible exit directions to take. Usually the one you need to take is not dimmed. It's a direction aid and require a route to show. Not all junction view are available for an exit.

You can google the image/snap to see the difference.
