Here's the skin i use...I tried to change the icons as per your guideline but seems to make no difference...and again i am no expert..so might have bumped somewhere...

I would appreciate your time if you could make both the speedcam and traffic lights appear differently...

place in the skin folder and then select the skin when running primo
I have modified the name of the skin for easy identification, It's name ends with "TL", for traffic lights.
You might have to re select "traffic lights" in the alert point settings menu
I have modified the skin so you no longer need my "traffic lights" ux, but you will still need the traffic light "speedcam" data in the speedcam folder.
