Thread: iGO8 and glich Failed to open file: diriconbig800_000.bmp Exiting aplication"

This probably isn't new topic but i couldn't find solution here ,so after some searching i wont to share here solution(not mine, credit due) of what i found and my struggle.

If somebody bring you old but functional gps like they did to me, to insert some navigation(original is too old, no maps, no support), logical choice is to put some old version of IGO ,or like me too put 2 version which gonna read same maps (igo8 and Primo2.0).GPS was some chines wince5 gps and i used Primo 2.0 and iGO 8.3.5.231128 full- both designed for lower spec devices.i also tried primo 2.4 but it wont load, it started and progress bar stall at the middle for long time so it was scratched. Primo 2.0 worked fine and almost pretty fast loaded with full Europe,buildings, dem, speed camera,(everything in here maps 2017 q3), also there was skins, only no TTS because there are any for winCE Serbian.
But..
Igo8 started to gives me errors and to crash app with message Failed to open file: diriconbig800_000.bmp Exiting aplication"
i found out due to problem is related exclusively to the use of NAVTEQ-HERE maps, and / or FDA files,and that it manifests itself only by activating the function: DRIVER ALERT. which are Navteq/HERE feature.
i tried different versions of iGO 8 v 8.3.5 and glitch happens in all 2-3 different builds because app tries to read icons 800_000.bmp which are only Exclusively for resolution 800x400 and are stored in that folder and not in common. resolution for my device was 400x272 so i don't know why app tries to read bigger bmp files. i found some solution and implemented it but didn't like results

Using new DA files from TM IGO8 have some problem to handle with that.
But small action in data.zip or branding.zip will resolve that.

Error message:
"Failed to open file: diriconbig800_000.bmp Exiting application"
In data.zip (also in braning.zip) in section: ui_igo8_da> icons> sys> directions.icons

but diricon800_00x does not exist. So you have changed all diriconbig800_00x to diriconbig_00x.bmp, like this

Do not forget $ sight before.
Another solution is delete all diriconbig800_0xx.bmp

Error message:
"Failed to open file: poi_brand.spr Exiting application"

open: data.zip (also branding.zip), ui_igo8_da> icons> poi> poi.icons (or all xx.icons file) and put before each line $ sign.

explain: do that only if your icons (bmp files) have a common folder (usually are). $ sign tells igo8 that icons are in common folder. If you do not put the sign, that tells you that the icons are in the proper resolution folder (like 480_272). So, you can do the hard work by putting the $ sign before each line, or copy all bmp files from the common folder to the proper resolution folder (like 480_272). I recommending first solution.

For security, I recommend repeating the same procedure for all the other scripts eg.

They range from (800_000) to (800_044)

So i deleted lines without $ sign to stop app searching bmp file in 400x277 folder or u can copy icons form 800x400 to comon folder, but editing data.zip without errors is difficult( there is topic about that)
So it worked. kinda because on main screen app draws some arrows

in Primo version there was no such alerts or i couldn't figure out what was it so i give up and
used older version of igo iGO8 8.3.2.83157 found lying around and glitches stopped without editing data.zip.
Later today thanks to this [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] i released that glitches stopped because version 8.3.2 don't support driver alerts

if anyone have better solution to use 8.3.5 without glitches or strange signs in screen please share with me

I could not find any live links for iGO8 versions 8.3.2 or 8.3.3 or 8.3.4 please share them here
only live links are for iGO 8.3.5. and i try 3 different builds and 2-3 data.zip, all of them try to read diriconbig800_0xx and causing app to crash
i'm sharing version which i have iGO8 8.3.2.83157 because i can't find live links of any older version

I tried to use the same versin (iGO 8.3.5) on an old DIS300 but faced the same problem "Failed to open file: diriconbig800_000.bmp". May I have the "corrected data.zip" you mentioned before tigertron? Thanks

Finally...Following the above instractions, the problem had been solved it wasn't so difficult. Thanks to tigertron
