Point A is starting point (must be known), point B is actual position (at present moment), no matter where exit point will (or will not) be in future.
B = Exit point, will be at moment when you reach that point.
Rest is math.
"Driving Avg. Speed" is average in last short period, another is for complete section (from A to B).

There is a point A, and after 5 km there is point B. You have passed point A from 500 meters, let's call it point A1, from A to A1 is "last short period", with this example I answer also to your post#650, if point A1 is close to point A, the average speed and the actual speed are the same.
I made a check and maybe I understood where is point B. It's virtual, and it's on the data.zip, in the speedcam.zip file and in some sys.
section_beep_distance=150
section_beep_spoken_type=speech
section_beep_speech="Average speed camera."
these three strings are only for the "Average speed camera" category, the number should be the seconds after which the stretch ends......
A safer answer can only be given by Arimi, Pongo & C.
I continue the
Cameras of medium speed
changed the warning logic
for the zone, two cameras should be created
first (the beginning of the zone) with the limiting limit limit. The
second (zone end) with a speed limit of 5 or 0 km / h
can be deleted by clicking on it

@BIRBANTE If that's true (and I think it is not), what is "the rule" for point A1? Is it 10%? Half way? 5 minutes before? ... Then I would like to know, what is a purpose of this? Why I want to know, what was my Avg. Speed in past?
And of course, why is then called "Driving Avg. Speed"?

These are just my assumptions, I do not know for sure if it is so. We are talking about a software that does not see and does not hear, it only processes the data in its possession. How do it determine when the average speed check zone is finished? It has no file with the coordinates that informs it of this, so it has a command somewhere that determines this thing, or after a lot of time, or after a certain number of meters..... I think it already does enough if it calculate the average speeds between A and B
I'm not a computer engineer, I'm just a user who breaks the software to look inside, understanding it little......
To get certain answers or the NNG technicians should answer you, or by the various Arimi, Pongo & C. that handle iGO for a lifetime.....
You trust too much of technology, the technology is not infallible, you can not take everything that indicates to you for absolute truth, the maps may be wrong, the speedcam files too, we are talking about a software that does not cost millions of euros......

BIRBANTE
As first, Happy New year, to you and for all good people on this forum...
And as second, a simple "I don't know" is good enough as answer.

A Happy New Year wishes to you too, and to the whole Forum.
I repeat that mine is just a guess, which can also be wrong, it's not a problem for me, but I would like to have a certain answer from those who chew iGO for many years, surely those around the 4PDA Forum know how this thing works......
In more detail about the cameras of average speed
for the correct warning, for the medium speed control zone, there are two possible methods of counting:
1- there must be two chambers:
- the first (the beginning of the zone) with the measured limit of restriction, for example 70 km / h
- the second (end of the zone) with a speed limit of 5 km / h or 0km / hour ,
both cameras are directed against traffic;
2- there must be one camera in any direction and an entry in speedcam_category
[speedcam_category: 3]
max_section_time = 180; is the warning time
It is possible to use both methods together, with the exception that, with max_section_time entries, the end of the zone will be farther from the second camera, otherwise the second camera will start warning about the control zone with a limit of 5km / hour or 0km / hour
speedcam.zip

When using this plugin there should be no records about the cameras [speedcam_category: 0 - 31] and [warning] in sys.txt, since all the necessary entries are already present in the plugin.ini , you can only change the time in the record ---> max_section_time = 180, or completely delete this entry if you use only the first warning method
Thanks pongo.
