    Default How do i get voice guidance to be muted when accepting phone calls

    I have Igo primo on a wince system and the GPS sounds are muted during a phone call but on my Android stereos running Nextgen the GPS sounds are highly intrusive during a phone call and I have searched all the setting and can't find anything that will fix it.
    Any known solutions?

    I have just spent quite a bit pf time trying to rectify this again without success. There is an option in the Android, (8) settings under "navigation" That has the options "monitor GPS" with the sub options, "mixing" and "Navigation sound with phone".
    The "Mixing" option goes from -8 to +8 and the "Nav sound with phone" goes from 0 to 100% in 20% steps. Not only does adjusting these parameters seem to do nothing, but when simulating a gps route for testing, the voice volume almost doubles in volume when you start a phone call. It does this on both of my Android gps car units, one running Android 8 and one running android 9.
    Please help as every time I get a phone call in the car the voice guidance interrupts and make the conversation impossible .

    There are already few discussions about this and similar problems.

    On Android different sound channels have different priority.
    Try with changing navigation_audio_stream value (audio channel) in sys.txt:
    Code:

    This value ("4") is almost always muting all other audio sources.
    Probably if you set it to "3" it will be muted while talking on phone, but navigation messages will not mute music player, and will be "mixed" with music.
    Try to play with this values and settings in your device.

    Thanks for the reply.
    I tried adding that to my sys.txt and changed some of the numbers, but it made no difference, it straight away raised the volume of the guidance voice. What is the best way to post my sys.txt so you can have a scan over it and see if there is anything missing or needs to be added? This is the only other sound related thing I found in the sys.txt.

    The media playing in the background, (radio, media player, dab) is muted as soon as a call in initiated so I am hoping there is a way to mute the voice guidance, but I am puzzled as to why it gets louder.

    I'm not sure that anything more can be done in navigation.
    For me, it seems that is completely in control of your device.

    I have messaged the manufacturer and hopefully they can offer some insight. I will try a few more things today and report back.

    I have made 1 step forward 20 steps backwards.
    I added to the (sound) in sys.txt so I ended up with is
    [sound]
    ding_muted=1
    csv_voice_enabled="1"
    pause_mp3_sooner = 500
    dev_buffer_size=200
    android_muting_device=0
    guidance_distance_offset=50
    ;### (1) read by dex file, 0 fix for Android 4.x
    ;android_muting_device=1
    ;auto_mute=1 ;(0)ICS/JB
    ;keep_alive_speaker= ;(0)
    ;speaker_resume_sec= ;(3)
    ;allow_no_buffer_return_on_zero_volume= ;(0)
    ;logarithmic_volume= ;(0)
    ;compressor_switches_on_ui= ;(0)
    ;enable_silence_playing_muting_device= ;(0)
    dynamic_volume_type=1
    dev_channels=1

    And it work perfectly.
    I then tried to change the sys.txt on my other car running iGO_Pal (iGO719WD) and now I cannot get iGO to load at all, just the old "global_cgf not found" error.
    I have pulled the head unit from the vehicle so I can change the sd card and have tried all sorts of things but still no luck with anything.
    This seems crazy.
    Hope some one can help.

    All working perfect now see Global_cfg not found thread for details.
    Thanks everyone for the help.
    Baz
