OK, I see that somebody discovered the temporary solution but this is not a solution. I think that we face here a bug, let me explain why. I chose another car, lorry which has already set maximum speed 80km/h and the problem is corrected as indicated, but this is corrected because on the highway where the maximum speed is 130km/h you can drive with your car with maximum of 80km/h. in this case "fast" cant be faster on the route with highway than shortest distance.

Let me show you the problem faced by me, this is why I'm here now on this thread. I set a route between A and B in fast mode with a car having maximum 130km/h. The result was 125km in 1h50. After spending time at destination I set to go back from B to A with same mode fast and my car with maximum 130km/h. The result was 165km, different route in 1h47. The question is, why fastest route is different from B to A than from A to B? In reality that was was not fastest at all, just stupid calculation, and it is not normal to modify maximum speed to lower because I will not have fast routes anymore including highways.

I found the problem, the presence of *.ftr files is the problem. If I delete ftr files the fast mode works great even if the maximum speed is set to 130km/h. I hope this will also help you to solve the anomaly. It is not normal to affect my route as soon as I didn't chose a truck.

The softwares base their calculations only on the maximum speeds allowed in the various roads and not at the maximum speed you assign to your car. The softwares are made to respect, and make you respect the limits and the road rules.
I tried to calculate a route of 140 km, almost all on the highway, duration 1 hour and 50 minutes. After I changed the max speed set for the car from 130 to 190 km/h and I had the same route calculated again...... nothing has changed ....
Let me open your mind. It is right that if you change 130 to 190 nothing will be changed, because even if you have a car which drives with 190km/h the calculation is done according to roads limit, 130km/h for a highway. But if your car is old and the maximum speed is just 90km/h even if you drive on highway the GPS will calculate with your maximum speed 90 instead of 130 but in the city it will be 50 instead of 90 because the route limit is higher priority than car maximum speed.

I hope you understand and now it is more clear.

The worst thing I find is that there is no logic to the route. I usually have to set up a route with about 30 to 40 waypoints. NextGen makes me input the final destination and then organises the route. Unfortunately the route it optimises is too random to be effective and expects me to drive off in one direction to a waypoint, and then return back to almost where I started from for the next waypoint. Hopeless
Igo primo would at least optimise a route and waypoints based on your location at the start of the route

    @Ray

Did you test this with different NG versions or only one, and which?
My friend is using this daily with NG Israel, and as much as I know he has no problems with it.

Hi, I tried it with different versions of NextGen with same results. It seemed to be a inherited problem from Igo Primo which also did similar things.
I have now found the Optimize button for the route now, which has improved it a lot, however there is still a fair bit of " drive past one waypoint to reach another, then backtrack along the route to go to its next waypoint.
Instead of being a 1.....2...3.. progression it goes more, 1....3...2 and so on. Not all the time but enough to be annoying

I also mentioned before in the forum that IGO route algorithm is not optimized compare to sygic & google maps.
I have tested all IGO routes and routes alternative in roads that I know very well in 4 different directions, and all are bad choice to drive. the roads are in the city and outside the city. no matter which car speed you choose in car profile.

sygic and google maps always give me the best route, and always as the first option.

    My conclusions:

    1. Use Igo in roads that I know. ( so forcing IGO to recalculate the route )
    2. IGO algorithm tries to "take" you as fast as possible to a highway, but the road to this highway is a time waste & hassle. while sygic "takes"
you to the highway in the best roads available.

** Sygic Pro (Truck) is better than sygic in route planning. **

Perhaps the Historical Traffic Flow (Skin settings -> Warnings -> Traffic) option enabled or disabled may have some improvement in the route calculation result.

I have tried route calculation during night ( no traffic) and day to no avail.
    It is simply the algorithm.
