It is Next generation, and yes. I did a tour of France this year and it worked fine. I used the Pioplaza scdb and TomTom maps, available on this site. and just added the countries I needed. I tend to be listening through the intercom rather than watching on the motorcycle for obvious reasons but I was getting the warnings. I did notice they were not always 100 percent accurate for location though. From reading other threads this seems to be normal.
