    Hello Morco,

Thanks a lot for your testing and these great remarks!! Unfortunately I still don't have it working yet... The reason I couldn't get back earlier being some other obligations..

Your checksum observation is super interesting. Indeed, it seems like "GPS over BT" app somehow only transferred single digit checksums in all my registered nmea protocols. Also the weird date is very strange. I have checked, and could not find the source for this error. In all device, app and program settings of both laptop and android device, the correct date was being used. On the other hand, I don't know it if this should really impact position/GPS fix, since it is sent in a different NMEA phrase?

So as I have already mentioned in the EDIT note of my last post, I have tried a different app, "ShareGPS", and here, all of a sudden, the NMEA phrases arriving at the computer's com port are perfectly readable for VisualGPSView. I get all the position data and satellite plots. I have checked the phrases and they look a lot different from the phrases sent by the previous app "GPS over BT". The phrases sent by "ShareGPS" have dual-digit checksums. "ShareGPS" does not send any $GPZDA string, hence no date that I could check.

Here you can find the example files I registered, where position is perfectly displayed: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Big bummer was, that when checking in AMIDuOS, nothing changed at all. The com port is being read (The "ShareGPS" status on the android device switches to "Connected" and the com port is blocked for other windows programs) but no location is available within AMIDuOS. All the "GPS test" app says "No Fix" and location 0.000N, 0.000E. Same for all other apps inside AMIDuOS.

Not sure, where the problem is. Have you, btw, activated "mock location" in AMIDuOS developer options settings?

Anyway. I might be able to test some more tomorrow. Maybe using a different device to send the GPS data to the com port. The first quick tests I have conducted in that direction haven't changed anything, though.
Tuesday, I will finally have access to the real field equipment, Trimble tablet and antenna and I'll just try the same thing there. Maybe my computer is just lacking willingness.
Last resort will be writing a custom bridge between Windows and an emulator + using this app, which a programming expert friend of mine discovered: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

I'll keep you updated on the progress. Have a nice evening!

    Thanks for the update,

I will certainly be interested to know how you get on & hope you eventually get it sorted. Please keep me posted.

I'm out of Ideas now for you to try, but if you still don't get anywhere then perhaps try the Amiduos version that I am using (Amiduos_2.0.9.10342).
The download link is at the bottom of my post number #18.

p.s my version of Amiduos doesn't have or I haven't discovered developer options settings.

Hello morco and everybody else that might be interested,
I've got it working, thanks to an amazing computer expert friend of mine!! but in the end I went for a totally different approach. The reason being that AMIDuOS doesn't even run on the tablet that I'll be using (Trimble T10). It shows a black screen, when starting DuOS. I googled a bit and found it is a problem that's been around for a while especially with Surface Pro users. Some Intel graphic driver issue. Overwriting with an old driver and stopping Windows updates is not a sustainable solution for a university computer.
In short I used MEmu player. It has the capability to use a bridged network mode. Inside the emulator one needs to install the app MockGeoFix. MockGeoFix listens on the bridged network's IP adress and constantly overwrite's the Android location. A linux bash terminal was installed in Windows and a short script written to transfer the NMEA strings from the com port to the TCP/IP where MockGeoFix listens.
You'll find the holistic set-up and installation guide I wrote here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Everything I did is explained in detail. I'll leave it up on my drive for a bit. If you read this too late, send me a message to get a copy.
Wish you all a happy time with Android+GPS on Win10!!
    =)

P.S. @morco: replying to your last message:
o I had actually used your Amiduos version. that didn't help, though, unfortunately.
o You can activate developer options by clicking >Settings>About tablet> and then clicking 7 times on "build number"
