This also happens when the sd card is not inserted in the unit ?

The unit only show a white screen and black plus that moves when I tap on the display.

This sounds like the touchscreen calibration screen.
What happens when you take a stylus and touch the middle of the black plus.
When the black plus change from position again touch the center of it, and so on.
If you are lucky after a few times when the black plus is again on its start position it wil ask you to save the calibration.
Then it the screen wil return to normal
