You could try and find a custom updated ROM for the head unit, i have an Eonon with 8.1 and have run various versions of IGO without issue so might be time for an upgrade.
My Android car radio had iGO built in, something glitchy happened after a couple years and it wouldn't load. I've tried to uninstall and make a new SD card from software here but I'm not having any luck.
The error I am getting is:
Screen size 1024x586 not supported or skin not found
I tried changing the sys.ex file as recommended, nothing.
I thought I'd go ahead and download from Playstore, but get the same error.
I'm suspecting the iGO software I'm trying to run doesn't work with the old Android 4.4 OS.
I guess my question is:
Should I continue to try to get working GPS on my car radio, or just buy a new Android radio with 8.1 or higher OS? (under $100 online)
Or maybe just get a standalone GPS navigation device?
(I tried Google Maps but for some reason my radio will not play when Maps app is active on the screen, big bummer, and Maps only has a limited offline capability, not entire States or countries)
Thoughts or advice?

Hi surlybill, and welcome to forum.

My search term skills must not be very good; I've been reading posts and possible solutions here for the last week. Thanks for the links!
Many of the threads I found have links to pages or files that no longer exist, or to suspect websites that want me to "sign up" in order to access downloadable files.
I've tried all the suggested sys.ex changes I've found on this forum regarding supported screen size/skin not found. I cannot find a sys.ex folder with m-settings, just the sys.ex under Devices: Android and the main sys.ex folder in iGO.
(I don't want people to think I'm a lazy forum user)
You'd think that in this day and age a simple software download from the vendor would detect settings and alert change the program to adapt automatically instead of leaving it a Scooby Doo mystery to be solved by the end user!
Ideally, I'd like to wipe all iGO from my radio and load an entirely new program on the GPS SD and instal/run it from there. It's just not happening for me. Not even downloading from Play Store directly to the unit via WiFi. I think I'll spring for an entirely new double DIN Android radio with 8.1 or better for $75 rather than keep running into brick walls trying to get iGO restored on my old 4.4. New radio won't have cd/dvd, but I've rarely used that function anyway!
Thanks for everyone's help, though!
Also, as per info I read in one of Boki_Srb's threads for iGO that is listed above; Primo doesn't work on anything below Oreo. which means it won't work on my radio (I tried anyway).

Read more carefully
Primo do not work on Oreo. Works under and above![]()
Opps! So much for Evelyn Wood sped reding corse!
But it says "Primo does not work under the Android Oreo (8.x.x) system" I assumed "under" to mean any OS below 8.x. Maybe change that post to the word "with" instead of "under".
I changed the sys file to include my screen resolution and tried anyway, with the same no-go results.
On the download of that Primo file, do the zipped folders need to be unzipped when put on the SD card, or does installation in the actual end using unit (car radio) unzip them as part of installation?

No one device do any unpacking on its own. And you must install software (apk)
Now, start reading... a lot![]()
SHIVER ME TIMBERS!
The above linked Primo from the oddly worded link is WORKING!
sort of.
I added the TomTom maps, made the sys changes, and loaded with the included apk. I didn't unzip the files that were still zipped after unRARing.
From my desktop, I transferred the folder with the TomTom maps added in Content folder to an SD card.
Put that SD card in my radio and ran the apk file that is external to the iGO folder in the download.
iGO loads, gives no warning screens, and functions as expected.
EXCEPT the screen keeps flashing to black for a few milliseconds every couple seconds, seemingly more as I am moving but I could be wrong, and the program stalls to black after a few minutes.
Going through settings, the "custom vehicle" selection seems to really make it angry and more flashy; and it shuts down if I try to select any other vehicle cursor other than default, but it also shuts down if I don't try to change vehicle, it just takes longer.
There are TWO variables to my previous attempts: I added TomTom maps, and I didn't unzip the folders (data, save_backup) that were left zipped after unRARing. These are the two things I did this time, and iGO loaded and installed and runs...for a while.
Maybe it's the map pack. I'll try the Here maps and see if that solves it.
Maybe it's the zipped folders. I'll try unzipping and pasting the contents in their place.
Maybe I'll even read all the links and suggestions yet again; with comprehension glasses on.
(I'm sharing the adventures of my journey in hopes that it will help future travelers having a similar issue, with similar knowledge of these devices and software)
