Default Problems with Samsung Galaxy S3

    Hello

I'm having some problems with Primo 2.4 on a Samsung Galaxy S3 phone and I'd like to know about the experiences of any other users of the S3. I have tried several different apks with the same problems every time so I think it must be to do with the phone rather than the software.

    Problem 1
Primo runs very slow and laggy on the S3 but is fine on older and lower-spec phones. I have installed it on a Motorola Moto G, Samsung Ace 2, Samsung Ace 3, Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy S4 (S4 rooted with Cyanogenmod). On every device I have installed full East and west Europe maps (TomTom 2015.03 and HERE 2014 Q4 - many thanks to uploaders) with a mapchanger. On the Ace devices and the Moto-G it works fine with no problems, but the S3 and S4 are struggling. Speed calculation is slow and inaccurate, map scrolling is sluggish and when it speaks the screen often goes black.

    Problem 2
I'm cannot change the audio stream with the following sys.txt command:

    [android]
    navigation_audio_stream=x
    ; x = 0 for VOICE_CALL, 1 for SYSTEM, 2 for RING, 3 for MEDIA, 4 for ALARM, 5 for NOTIFICATION, 6 for BLUETOOTH, 8 for DTMF

No matter what number I use for x, the audio is always on the "SYSTEM" channel.

If you have Primo working OK on an S3 please let me know what version you are using, and if you have experienced either of these problems please reply too.

    Thanks

Although the majority are pushing new versions, often people have problems with their adjustment. A old and trusted versions work great. Find and install Primo Explay Infinity II, version for 1280x720 devices, works even on new units (Z3 compact for example, I've instaled it for friend few days ago).

Thanks for your advice; I was able to download and install the version you suggested and have just returned from a long journey where I was able to test it thoroughly. Unfortunately it has not helped much in my case. No problem with the voice with this version but at 100 km/hr GPS shows car a few hundred metres behind my actual position so turn instructions come after the corner. Its better at low speed in towns and villages.

I now think it is a problem with the phone rather than the software. Even after a factory reset it is no better.

Is there nobody else on the form who uses a S3 and is willing to share there experiences?

There are two possible problems in that case:
    - bad map (not precisely done)
    - bad GPS receiver
Just to be sure, try it with another program to navigate(Sygic, Navigon, Here...), with a map of your country only, to see how it will behave.

k1w1 - download it from this post- [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Before you start installations read exactly what and how, but besides very carefully, clear the phone - how? it is written,tu:[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Check to make sure you do not have an extra folder somewhere igo? if so, delete, or rename.
Delete in phone all old's files and folders igo/old instalations files and folders/!!!
apk 483,387 works without a problem on the S3.
install at the beginning of internal memory. phone.
    it will be OK.
    PS.
    what's your android?
    Telephone root or no?

    PS for Boki_srb:
I do not propose to colleagues antiques Primo2.0, because with new versions of android poorly cooperate! and new skins only some Serve Primo2.0

    @ k1w1_123
iGo work great on the S3. data.zip by default support S3. The problem is you do androids. Maybe you have a custom ROM and on the real problem. The sound of the S3 should operate normally.

This is the solution for and. 4.0 and not for S3. Some devices have problems with strength and is added to the text.

    [sound]
    dev_buffer_size=300

I installed iGO on many Samsung S3 with different OS ( JB, KK) root or no root.

Try to add in sys.txt :
    [android]
    ;select audio stream
    ; 0-STREAM_VOICE_CALL, 1-STREAM_SYSTEM, 2-STREAM_RING, 3-STREAM_MUSIC, 4-STREAM_ALARM, 5-STREAM_NOTIFICATION
    navigation_audio_stream=4

Force stop iGO and then restart.

People often just prescribe. "k1w1_123" said it well that whatever you put as the value for navigation_audio_stream = x, there are problems. And whatever you write with ; in front of, to that line you can forget. Why then did you put it? Sys.txt is crowded totally unnecessary lines. Possible solution gave BrownDog.

Mr k1w1_123, do you only have problems with voice guidance or there are discrepancies and the display position?
What Android do you have, what is the condition of the system on the phone? If it is not an electronic problem (easy to check with other software), it is not a bad idea to totally erase all that relates to the Igo. And put a fresh installation with the most basic necessary files.

@ wojpen: "antiques Primo2.0" poorly cooperate with new android versions?? Nonsense. At "antique phone"? Why not. Any program, software that actually works is good.
Actually, I'm much more comfortable with his behavior than some of the new version. Whichever stylish device with a modern system (lolipop) I've installed it, behaves perfectly and smoothly.
Whether it works with modern skins is less important. 99% of users in this forum use Igo to be played. Ordinary users don't use skins. Those who are really serious and professional driving, do not use the skins. When you travel a lot, and often, you need a clear field of vision guidance with as little unnecessary information on the screen. Two more seconds retention views on screen GPS, and here you are out of the way or nailed to the vehicle in front. The only exceptions are the city taxi drivers, (I have cousin who is taxist), although they are not all.

    Colleague Boki_Srb.
I'm not arguing with you - say only one thing - the lack of consistency and you do not really know (remember) what you write.
    Here's proof:
Your post - [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and the quote:
"For newer devices, it is advisable to use the latest versions because they are adapted to high resolutions (> HD) and to some other things."
and second:[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] - Quote: "although the Majority are pushing new versions, often people have problems with Their adjustment. And old and trusted versions work great. Find and install Primo EXPLAY Infinity II version for 1280x720 devices, works even on new units (Z3 compact for example, I've instaled it for friend a few days ago). "
What And as for system and the version of Primo - for some reason, successive versions of Primo arise ....

Thanks to everybody for their suggestions. I have been away for a few days but have been able to try some things and can answer some of your questions

Maps are ok, I copied them onto another older phone and there Primo works fine

I downloaded the HERE app to try, it is also slow to calculate speeed so maybe a bad GPS receiver?

I have now tried 483387, 468978, 431282, 331894 and 281004. Every time I cleaned the phone accordimg to Brown Dog's instructions. Also looked for and deleted any old extra files and folders every time.

I have tried on internal memory and external SDcard always with the same result.

The display position can be 200 0r 300 metres behind at 100 km/hr but is OK at slow speed in towns and villages

Phone was factory reset 2 or 3 weeks ago before first installing Primo

Do you know of a software I could use to check for electronic problems?

Mr Boki_Srb, I think your idea to try a different programme was a good one; Trying the HERE app has shown me the problem is with my phone and not with Primo. If you know of a program I can use to check the phone for problems please let me know.

Thank-you again to all who have contributed to this thread.
