I made a few tests and YES in my opinion you can/must replace the *.3dc with the *_Textured.3dc
You don't need both.

I already had some random "colorful textures" and with the *.3dc a specific church is dressed with the usual those random textures.
If I replace the *.3dc with the *_Textured.3dc the church is now grey but you can see ...its windows in simple graphics.

But I'm not so sure it's worth it, if you don't have memory to spare. You can use the regular 3dc without losing something extraordinary or significant.

Does anyone have a copy of the United_Kingdom.fpa file since this is missing from this release?
