My smartphone has updated to 1.1.407 wk 07 and is now updating the maps
Edit1 12 feb
map update was minimal (version 8.30.56.114) but voices were gone and had to reinstall
Edit2 12 feb
I looked up and map version number is the same as before. Then what was the update about? It took a long long time to update the maps
Edit3 15 feb
Another update to 1.41 followed by a map update that took just a few minutes. Same map build, thus HERE must have done a version check.
And the voices were not gone this time

New:
• We added interactive 3D maps of shopping malls and airports in 70 countries
• You can tap on any place icon on the map to see more about it or how to get there
• Traffic incidents show you what’s causing the jam before you have to find out in person
• You can now download maps in the background — no need to wait for them to finish
• You can now also download voices to your SD card
• We adjusted the volume so you can hear turn-by-turn directions more clearly

HERE allows you to search, navigate or get directions around the world — even without an Internet connection. Simply save our interactive maps to your phone or tablet and they’ll continue to work for you offline, wherever you are.
With HERE you’ll have a map for every moment. Find restaurants and shops in your area and make spontaneous plans with your friends by sharing your location privately via Glympse. Or prepare for a future trip by personalising maps with all the places you’d like to explore as soon as you arrive. You can even check out ratings and reviews from Trip Advisor, Lonely Planet and more.
Wherever you travel by car, you’ll have offline access to world-class navigation with turn-by-turn voice directions. You’ll even get live traffic and public transport information, so you can always find the quickest way.
Here’s how you can experience your world in new, exciting ways:
• Always know where you’re going: Turn-by-turn drive and walk voice guidance even without an Internet connection.
• Maps that always work for you: Interactive maps of more than 100 countries that you can save and continue to use offline.
• Choose the fastest transport option: Integrated public transport maps, directions and information for more than 800 cities in more than 40 countries.
• Avoid delays: Real-time traffic and road closure information in more than 40 countries around the world.
• Plan trips before you go: Personalise maps from your phone or here.com and store all the places you’d like see for when you get there.
• Meet friends here and there: Glympse lets you share your location and what time you’ll get there by SMS or email.
WHAT'S NEW
- Turn-by-turn guidance for Algeria, Cyprus, Zimbabwe, and Mayotte
- Improvements to map downloading and SD card behavior
Interesting fix: "- Turn-by-turn guidance for Algeria, Cyprus, Zimbabwe, and Mayotte"
Doesn't it uses HERE (Navteq) map for all countries thus same routing algorithm? If so, why does it need "special fix" for above countries?
Nokia - Here use ONLY Nokia - Here maps. If some one read "use of terms" inside the program, can proof of this.
Why we have this delay ? Because there are over 140 maps and the company has to test them, one by one before give us one country. Here has beta testers all over the world. There are 3 to 5 zones of popular countries and with this theory they test, before the maps publish. Of course "Turn-by-turn guidance" has to test it, separately.
Here has a lot of problems to solve. And the most difficult is the 100% of application working to all the smartphone, all the platforms Win - iOS -Android

Why I wouldnt switch to Here in my opinion:
1. Most important, lack of speedcams support (not even if you want to pay for)
2. Lack of the most common important features like Lane Assist and, less important IMHO, Junction View which anyway are a standard nowadays.
