What causes GPS device to switch on by itself

Hi,

I have a Generic GPS device with current maps. I had to charge the device as battery was low. After being fully charged, I held the button down until the other icon shows to power off, sometimes that button shows, other times it won't show.

After pressing the power off button, unit switches off then switches back on by itself, I've tried many times repeating the process and then it repeats the same thing.

Very frustrating, now battery is completely drained again. now it's off.

Does anyone know what causes this to happen?

Ok,
I'll have to check again and copy the micro sd card . As it was generic this is no name brand. It has the latest maps of Australa and New Zealand HERE and TomTom as well as OzieExplorer.

I'll have better info to provide later today.

Ok, I've copied the MicroSD Card to look at the contents.

As I don't know what I'm looking for, what extra information is needed.

I've seen the same behaviour before, it was a firmware issue.
Messing about a while ago I flashed a device with similar but not quite the same firmware as it came with, now it does exactly the same thing, auto reboots when powering off by holding the power button down until the shutdown options appear, apart from that it works fine.

Can you get to the CE Desktop?
If so, using the Shutdown button on the CE Desktop might power it off correctly.
That's how I shut mine down now and it seems to shutdown correctly every time using that method.

I'll have to find that GPS device again , I have 4 different types in case one goes kaput. Once I find I'll see if I can get the CE Desktop and have a play then. Might be 2 weeks time.
