Seriously mate? Dang, how many DOA? and how many currently dead? You could be Garmin's one man statistic on it's quality control![]()

I generally now only buy units which are advertised as 'not working/for parts only' [unless i manage to score others that are working very cheap too]. Mostly, they are soft-bricked and very easy to revive but occasionally i get hit with a problem one and i've had a few dead ones that have had to go into the parts drawer for breaking down. I have a StreetPilot 2720 giving me grief at the moment, i think it's got a damaged flash involving regions 10 and 49 which share space and hold the detail maps gmapsupp.img and gmapprom.img respectively. I can't erase or overwrite the existing maps and it won't boot past 'loading maps' with a red bar so i may have to swallow my pride and ask for help as i'm running out of things to try.
I've sold a lot of units at cost or given them away to friends and family after fixing them, or sold them to deserving types well below market value. I've unbricked and repaired many units [usually smashed screens/digitizers] for friends [and also friends of friends of friends - the word spreads]. I've never charged for anything other than parts at cost, never taken any money for labour but occasionally score a bottle of plonk under protest.
A while back i bought a bulk lot of 25 traffic receivers on eFlea for AU$114 delivered, advertised as condition unknown. 3 are cactus and i haven't had time to look at them yet but the other 22 work fine so that still works out a bit over 5 bux each for 22.

Ok, fixed 2 of the 3 broke GTM25s and i've since bought lots more bricked nuvis on eflea [best recent buy was a nuvi 2797 complete and unmarked but bricked for less than 50 bucks US, easy fixed]. So best i start practicing my intro speech ....
Hello. My name is Neil. I'm an addict and I hate Sherms a little bit. I have 64 Garmins, no wait .... it's now 65 ... sorry, it's 66. Oops! Another 2 just arrived so make that 68 ....
Sadly, it's not far from the truth. Anybody need a cheap Garmin?![]()

Is that your New Year resolution? To trim down (*cough* get rid off) your collection? Too bad shipping will cost more than the unit. I just pick up a Mio C320 and Magellan SE4 (in addition to the Nuvi 255W I got about a month ago) to play with. Also got some android phones from BF deal that probably keep me busy for a while. 68 units? Good God man, battery maintenance must be a pain in the butt.
PS: No hand held unit in the collection? Why?

nuvi 500 counts as a hand-held. It can also use marine maps, up to a point .....
Shipping per unit will go way down in bulk Tex. Tell ya wot, sling me a gorilla and i'll send you a mixed lot of 20 postage included. I'll chuck in half a dozen traffic receivers too if you're quick .... Deal?

Gorilla? Is that a slang for certain amount of $$$? I'm all out of my hobby fund for this year and probably the next. BF was a killer this year!
It's only 100 bux, what you blokes call a yard, Benjamin or c-note. We also call our $100 banknote lettuce leaf, avocado, jolly green giant, fat lady, green soldier, green phantom or hen's tooth ['cos it's rare as] and quite a few others depending on regional preferences. But it was also a joke, i was always gonna renege anyway.
Sorry mate, you took too long to accept, deal's off.So, no gorilla/lettuce for you:

All our notes are polymer, $5 to $100, and very difficult to forge. Unlike your paper folding stuff, a teenager with a reasonable scanner, a good colour printer and some quality paperstock can do a few bills at home which might be passable in a busy club or bar. Beats delivering pizzas, chucking papers off your bike or pushing a mower weekends to make weed-money.
My turn to act confused ... Wot's BF stand for, is it Brainf**k the programming language? I hope it's not Boy Friend, Breast Feeding or even Black Friday. Maybe Big Foot? Am i warm?![]()

Dude, BF=Black Friday!
Thank God! It's bad enough you got fleeced at the stores, but if you were Breast Feeding i'd have to de-friend you ...... Actually, i'd have reckoned Cyber Monday was more your bag. To tell the truth Tex, your foibles are harder to pick than a broken nose, can't see you using a sharpened umbrella to poke Joe and Joan Public outta the way in the bricks'n'mortars on BF when you'd only have to wait over the weekend to do it with some mouse clicks on CM but hey! I don't judge .....

Well this year is pretty much online deals for me. It was raining and cold, the only deal was waiting an hour in line for a $5 GC from Half Price Book so I passed. But last year I did enjoy a black woman bitch slap this white man when she countered his arguments about how Democrats does this and doesn't do that. It was hilarious!
