Hi, thanks for the useful tip! Any suggestions on easily switching between the map sets when working on Garmin Mobile XT?
For example, I have two different maps of the same are each having its own specifics. Having the limitation of 4 maps that can be handled at a time, you have to switch between map sets if you have a total of more than 4.
What would you recommend for easy switching between map sets on Windows Mobile platform? (Consider we have here Nordic + Eastern Europe + Russia maps). Thank you in advance.
I joined several maps from different IMG files into a single IMG file and... lost address search. Routing works fine, even searching for crossings and city districts work well. When doing an address search I only see countries from a single IMG file, other countries, actual for maps extracted from other IMG files, are no longer available. Could somebody please explain what was wrong in what I did?
I had the following set:
- Garmin City Navigator Europe 2011.32 NT (Setup with MapSource);
- Garmin CityXplorer Helsinki 2011.10 - IMG
- Garmin CityXplorer Moscow 2011.10 - IMG
- Garmin CityXplorer St. Petersburg 2011.10 - IMG
- Garmin City Navigator Russia NT 2011.40 - IMG
- Garmin Roads of Russia 5.21- IMG
- Garmin Roads of Russia Topo 6.08 - IMG
- Garmin Basemap for Mobile XT - IMG (downloaded from here _http://www.garmin.ru/GarminMobileXTFull.exe)
I extracted everything with GMapTool as a mapset for MapSource.
Selected necessary regions from each of the map using the MapSource.
Created a single new IMG file incorporating all the selected regions.
The problem is: when doing address search I have Garmin Mobile XT providing only the countries available in the City Navigator Europe 2011.32 NT product. Why is that?
I also understand that I was wrong to include CityXplorer maps (because they are not necessary when I have Garmin City Navigator Russia NT and City Navigator Europe) but still... It is also it is probably wasn't a good idea to export the basemap and then export it back into the IMG as a separate map (instead of leaving it as-is as a separate IMG file).
BTW, Caty from the link you gave me ([Only registered and activated users can see links. ]) I understood that all the basemap does is it provides for easy scaling from the bird's eye view to larger zoom. However, with MapsetToolkit I see that the basemap's mapset is routable and so is the Garmin City Navigator Europe 2011.32 NT. All other mapsets are non-routable. Why is that? Is it because I incorrectly imported maps from their IMG files into mapsets using the GMapTool?
Thank you all in advance and pleas excuse me I somehow abused forum's rules.
You cant have enabled routable maps that cover the same area and that overlap, this can be your problem-
The basemap must be apart and cant be deselected and must be named gmapbmap.img if you want it can work properly.
You have to navigate to get to the good.

Hello.
Need help with mobile xt. Can I use 5 maps on mobile xt? If yes. Then how? I have: gmapbmap, gmapprom, gmapsupp and gmapsup2. These all work fine and I know that the fifth map works too because when I change the maps names I get it to work but not all them together. Any ideas, I have tried everything from here (the app folder and the gmapoem). I have nokia n95 8gb and latest garmin xt soft.
Instructions about installation many maps are working well on Nokia E90, MobileXT 500.50 software. Same trick does not work on NÜVI550. I have been tested to add into internal memory and micro sd the file gmapsup2.img, on both cases no result. Device do not see this map. Any suggestions?
thank you very much.
Some times has left and as nobody was interested to give exact instructions, I took a time and made it clear for my self.
At Mobile XT I go working in folder garmin following file (map) names:
gmapbmap.img;
gmapprom.img;
gmapprom1.img;
gmapsup2.img;
gmapsupp.img.
At NUVI550 the good result is following:
internal memory
gmapprom.img
gmapbmap.img
gmapprom1.img
gmapsupp.img
gmaptz.img
gmapoem.img
MicroSD card
gmapsupp.img
is all garmin support more than 1 map or just particular model, many thanks
