Yes....as for the series 1xxx (for Europe use map NT(U) : 2013.21)
Folder Garmin with mapset gmapsupp.img or folder Map with mapset anyname.img

Is it possible to store multiple maps (without the use of the 'join' feature in GMapTool) on microSD for use in a nüvi 50 like it is done on (for instance) nüvi 1xxx? I have not been able to find this info in the tutorial section.

Multiple maps go in folder Map on SD or in nuvi, you can add it anyname.img
I tested 14 maps in folder Map and all work like charm![]()
As for the gmap3d.img files for those maps... do they also work from the SD:\Map folder, or do they go into the SD:\Garmin folder? If more than one map has a gmap3d.img file, can I rename those too?
On my nüvi 1490 I can only get the gmap3d.img file to work from the SD:\Garmin folder, not the SD:\Map folder, hence the question.
Sorry, you are right. I was mixed up with the JCV files. Those I can only get to work when I put them in the \Garmin\JCV folder, not in the \Map\JCV folder... Does that apply to the nüvi 50 as well? Sorry for the confusion.
Files .JCV (for function JV=Junction View) on root System\JCV\..... or SD\Garmin\JCV\....:only in these two paths
