I feel we have a misunderstanding, so please allow me to clarify. I do not promote the (permanent) removal of the hidden attribute of the .System folder. All I am trying to make clear is that krasi1606's procedure does not serve any purpose. To remove the hidden attribute his way, you first have to make the .System folder visible by changing the folder settings. After all, as long as the .System folder is invisible, you can not right-click on it to change the attributes. Now comes the interesting part: on a few nüvi 1xxx units, I have been unable to remove the hidden attribute of the .System folder since it is greyed out (see screenshot in my previous post). And even IF you were able to deselect the hidden attribute, the moment you disconnect the device from the USB cable, the attribute resets itself (see quote in my previous posts).
The purpose of this thread, started by qwik, is merely to save users the effort of changing folder settings manually to make the hidden .System folder visible. Running (double clicking) the batch file provided in post #1 is therefore an easier method than using a series of clicks.
