I found a simple way to unhide System folder:
    Right click,Properties and uncheck Hidden

It is known feature documented Windows! But if you would read first post and could use bat-files you do not spend time to go in Windows labirints.
Garmin, how much is 30 pieces of silver for Judas today? Were they worthy for crucifix of GPSPower?

    Two things:
    1. To right click on the .System folder, you need to make it visible first.
    2. Changing the attribute will last temporarily only. The moment you disconnect the nüvi from the computer, it resets the folder attributes (read post #1 properly):

So although the intention is good, having to change the folder attribute each time you want to see it defeats the purpose.

EDIT: To permanently allow your PC to see the hidden .System folder until a major upgrade or reset, open Control Panel > Folder Options (or "File Explorer Options" - OS dependent) > View - set the radio button for "Show hidden files, folders and drives" and uncheck the box for "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended) as shown below:

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Click Apply then OK to exit. Be aware that this will also show normally hidden things on your PC such as the ProgramData folder. You may not want to do this if other people use your PC.

krasi1606 gave absolutely relevant and simple one-time way to make hidden folders visible through the internal Windows dialog. This setting is enough to copy files to and from .System folder.
OS saves this natural and convenient setting, so you need not to think of it again. The first thing to be done after the OS installation.
Can't realize why do you want to remove that 'hidden' attribute.

Not being in a habit of repeating myself, but I'll make an exception for you here. After rebooting the nüvi, folder attributes are reset:

Therefore, it is not a one time action!
Further, when trying krasni1606's suggestion on a nüvi 1490, it turns out the Hidden attribute is greyed out and therefore can not be changed manually. Hence the need for a script or batch file.

    Me - too:
Can't realize why do you want to remove that 'hidden' attribute.
Of course my english is rather poor, so i'll try once again and in other words: what for do you remove that attribute (hidden)? What is your aim? As described above one time OS setting 'to show hidden folders' is sufficient to manage files within all the folders in the system including hidden ones (provided you have enough rights).
i never remove no attributes (neither H, nor S) but copy newer files to and delete older ones from .SYSTEM.
