As far as i know all reasonably modern units, even those using fw several versions back, run into the gma protection with map/family ID 2200 or more. Maybe some ancient units aren't affected, same as software like GMXT. Personally, i always update fw from gupdate.gcd on sd card or use an rgn file with updater.exe. If you're concerned about your unit possibly being 'browsed' by the server using WebUpdater or MyDashboard that just means Kiwis are as paranoid as Aussies.
