Till we were using just Mapsource , it was installing maps in Nuvis as gmapsupp.img and if you transferred another map in nuvi the previous gmapsupp.img was replaced and overwritten, recently all this has changed. We had new nuvis firmwares who support anyname.img and even in Garmin folder more than one gmapsupp.img is supported.
In outdoors gps everything is supported in Garmin folder, in nuvis everything is supported in Map folder.

In nuvi in folder garmin this name wont work "gmappsup1.img gmappsup2 gmappsup 3.img "

    On series 2xx in folder garmin work gmapsupp.img and gmapsup1.img, but not (gmappsup1.img gmappsup2 gmappsup 3.img )

I have tried using a name scheme of gmapsupp, gmapsup1, gmapsup2, gmapsup3 and on, But it only recognizes the first 2 .img files. Is it a limit on the device or?

    @jcquantum
I know you have a US 265W, but others may not. Always best to say which unit you have, because map image naming capability does vary depending on model.

You can use on an SD card in a root folder named Garmin, two map names: gmapsupp.img and gmapsup1.img only. This is assuming recently updated fw as you have. If not, only gmapsupp.img will work.

    Hi Neil

Sorry about the unit issue. I know the gmapsupp and gmapsup1 will work. Anything after that just plainly don't sem to be read by the unit itsefl. I'm currently experimenting with the Gmap tool. But I do have some questions on some of the settings in it. I'd hope i can pick your brain about it? Thanks

As I said only gmapsupp & gmapsup1 will work on the SD. In the unit itself the naming convention is different. See: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], that's for 7xx, but 2xx is similar but more basic (no gmap3d.img or gmap3d1.img for instance).

    Hi Neil

So I assume the JVC file/folder is not needed too since it does not support the JVC function?

No jcv for 265w, or other 'fancy' files for that matter. You can add Garmin Cyclops and other POIs of course, but otherwise, just maps mainly. See the specs for your unit here:

Getting OT, this thread is for 'Multiple maps on sd card', so do a bit of reading on the specs and post elsewhere if you have other related queries after that.

    Hi.
It is possible to have multi images on a micro sdhc card in garmin gps.
On a kingston Micro sdhc 8 Gb class 10 i have 12 different images on the card in my Astro 320.
    name them: gmapsupp1-gapsupp2-gmapsupp3-gmapsup4 osv.
Aktivate the maps you need, and let the other be deactivated.

    Regards
    Asro
