Thanks, did the full reset and it is better now, still not 100%, but perfectly usable, only the text entry part seems slow.
An unrelated problem but probably not one worth starting a new thread for: I have put it in my hire car to discover that has no 12V socket in the front, which is apparently 'progress', so I bought a longer lead off Amazon supposedly suitable for a Nuvi to USB, the connector is right but when I plug it into the satnav in the car, the nuvi comes up and goes into Garmin Express mode, not into navigation mode. How can it tell whether the genuine 12V adaptor is plugged in rather than a USB lead - and is there anything one can do about it? I would have thought volts were volts but it obviously knows the difference....
