Thread: Garmin echoMAP 74dv protection

i am considering buying Garmin echoMAP 74dv since my GPSMAP 420s no longer can find satellites. Does it have GMA, MSV and GSV protections? This model (or any echoMAP model ) does not seem to appear on the list of protected devices. I am trying to determine if it will work with my Bluechart G2 Vision HD unlocked maps, which worked with GPSMAP 420s....

The approach is different with marine devices. It's quite unlikely you will get such assistance here now due to forum policy changes earlier this year. Read amended Rule 9: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

Don't pay attention to the list of protected devices, it's not for chartplotters.

Yes, it will work if your BlueChart HD maps are unlocked completely (as Adm.Nelson does).
In the case of your legacy GPSmap420s, it was enough to use the old unlockers to unlock new HD charts.
