Recently I have been busy trying to unbrick a zumo 220 and initially got the same message from Updater. After many attempts I finally succeeded to flash FW via Updater. Another USB cable or another Operating System may indeed help also.
Edit:
What did the trick for me was to re-load CURE firmware a few times until I could finally load ORIGINAL firmware. I have no cogent explanation why this happened.
