Try this:
- Create backup of your nuvi
- format it with prepusb
- add back backup
- remove all voice from Voice folder
- disconect nuvi from Pc and create hard reset
- turn nuvi on
- turn nuvi off and connect it to Pc
- run webupdater to download voice file
- disconnect device from Pc and turn it ON
- Try if now all work

You need a basemap. Load the Autoroute DEM 5.01 linked by dasilvarsa.

Another problem that makes the GPS as a brick is when you charge (copiyng the gmapsupp.img as a file) a new map and he is the same (and different version)
For example load one version in the directory /map and the other in the SD/Garmin.
