After GarminCure3 have you tried to see if pc could recognize your nuvi?...I was able to enter pre-boot mode to use GarminCure3.exe and Updater.exe I tried to send either a Cure or an Original firmware to my unit...
Cure cant boot, it only allows to connect nuvi to pc and remove faulty files. After that must flash original frmware in preboot.

Yes, I tried. My pc did not recognize nuvi, so I could not enter mass storage mode.
