I think, your proposal is good. I was thinking about something similar. Currently the forum has many interesting posts, but they are barely organized.
For example, "Running programs from SD on nuvi" thread's first post is not updated with the latest advances, like 1)"boot.bin=ldr.bin" (even this!) 2) running ldr.bin by flashing RGN 3) if_error (I'm sorry for listing mainly my discoveries, but I couldn't remember quickly anything else).

Also there are no simple HOWTO for applying most powerful curing methods (without messing with less invasive ones), like GarminCure3 + ldr.bin inside RGN and "ergn,41".
That would cure almost any curable device. But it's not highlighted anywhere.
