Try to load 3490 Firmware
In short - have formated properly nuvi.
Created garmin folder but no garmindevice.xml was created!
I have had a copy of my old 3790 file structure on external drive, but it crashed and I lost all data on it most probably.
I have garmindevice.xml file from 3490, but after installation in Garmin folder and downloading FW and some of files - device do not boot because it is already with HWID 1101, but my current xml file says that unit has HWID 1376...
Tried to load 3790 FW 3.60, but updater says - sorry - this is not your FW.
Any idea how to proceed further?
PS: SD card tricks do not work for me for time being.
Any idea will be highly appreciated.

The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.
Albert Einstein.
I'm using win7 pro. So far - no problems.
Did it already. FW 3490 - 7.90 device did not boot.
Format it 3 or 4 times using preusb - no xml file...
Tried to load 3790 3.60 FW but updater says this is not proper FW.
Can someone upload full file structure from healthy 3790 or just garmindevice.xml? You can erase id number in garmindevice.xml file.
37xx GarminDevice.xml sample attached
You have to navigate to get to the good.
Galaxy S5 Kitkat 4.4.2 / Nuvi1200->1250 / Nuvi3790T->34xx / Nuvi 2200 / Nuvi 66 / Oregon 600
Try with cure tool to flash in preboot first with cure FW and again format with prepusb and then flash with original FW on pre boot.
You write that SD card don't work, what you like to do with SD card?
This kunix write a long time ago:
Kunix write:
I've discovered that it's possible to force update.txt execution while flashing boot.bin from RGN.
The good news is that the firmware isn't involved at all, so we can use it for curing.
You can do this it the following way:
1) Patch the boot.bin
1.1) Find bytes 0C 80 A0 E1 at the beginning of the boot.bin. Note, these bytes have to be four-byte aligned.
1.2) Replace the bytes with 0C 80 A0 E3
2) Prepare & copy update.txt into its usual place on SD card, then insert that SD card into your device
3) make RGN from the boot.bin and flash it
4) update.txt is executed
@popotnik
I will try tomorrow and will report but I do not think it will work..
Tried with Kunix idea not very much successful. Tomorrow will try again and this too.
I will try first with Caty sample xml.
Intermediate report.
Have loaded xml file changed /thanks Caty/. Device was detected by WebUpdater 3790. Download all files offered, but nothing happened.
Flashed with FW 3490 - 3.60 once again - surprisingly it worked, but device was undiscoverable by computer.
Flashed back with 3490-3.60 Kunix cure. Device become discoverable, have checked GarminDevice.xml file - no any change in it.
As it was copied - no a single change.
Whatever I do - so far this file do not change. And I'm fighting with unit computer invisibility when 3490 - 3.60 FW is loaded. So far - no success.
As usual I'm open for any suggestions.
Tried many options, but situation did not change.
On device info page it is written:
Unit ID =========
SW version - 7.10
GPS version - 0.00.00
=============
I think that shows that my unit is half dead already?
As far as declared to myself that unit is dead I'm opened for any advices what else could be done in order to bring it to the life from the death.
I have made a copy of reg 41 if that matters and as far as it still insist to be 3490 - a full file system backup.
