Just so I understand and do things right.

-I will make my Nuvi 510 a Zumo 510
-connect the unit to my PC via USB
-have the SD card with the copy of the original Nuvi 510 in my PC
-run GarminMApupdater (v3.2.2), select SD version of the nuvi (you wrote I should not connect the Zumo 510 to the servers of Garmin)


PS what did you mean by
"You can edit Garmindevice.xml to change the firmware level to satisfy the servers about firmware update"
